CAST-TX and DFW Sports Jointly Calling for Donation to Sichuan Earthquake

May 14, 2008 AM

A major earthquake, measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale, jolted southwestern China 's Sichuan Province , at 2:28 PM Beijing time (6:28 GMT) on May 12, 2008.  The earthquake was the most deadly suffered in China since 1976.

Per Xinhua (China’s official News agency), by Tuesday afternoon (May 12) local time more than 12,000 people in Sichuan province had been killed by the earthquake, with 9,404 reported buried in rubble and more than 26,000 injured. The death toll increased to 14,866 on Wednesday afternoon (May 13).
